Meagan Hefte BIO

Dance Instructor at Redwood City Dance Studio

When did you start at Arthur Murray?

November 14th

What was your “tipping point” for pursuing this job?

I read a book by John Maxwell called "Put Your Dream to the Test." The book questioned, "If you continued to do what you're doing now and you were never successful, would you think it was worth it?" At the time, I was pursuing an opera career while swing dancing in New Orleans with my friends every weekend. I realized that I was pouring my efforts into the wrong creative outlet! I became an assistant instructor at a local ballroom studio before I made a commitment to jump all in, and here I am! :)

Your favorite day at work so far...

Every minute of every day is better than the one before!

If you had to pick the most rewarding thing about working with your students, what would it be?

Whenever a student has an "a-ha!" moment, it makes me so proud. I love watching the lightbulb go on as students conquer challenges and achieve their personal dance goals.

What’s the best thing about the team you work with?

Where do I even begin?? It would take way too long to write down all of the awesome things about our team, so I'll just say this team is truly a family. We work together to crush goals, encourage one another, and have FUN!

How would you describe the school you work in?

Encouraging, full of laughter, and FUN FUN FUN!

What are some of your biggest accomplishments you’re most proud of?

Traveling and singing in Europe, earning my black belt, and moving to the Bay Area despite not knowing anyone out here!

What is one off-the-wall weird fact about you?

I'm an American citizen, but I was born in France.

Before Arthur Murray I worked as a(n)….

I managed a karate school.

What sets Arthur Murray apart from all other dance studios?

It's not hoity-toity. Some places can be a little snobby, and Arthur Murray is so down-to-earth. It's like hanging out with friends all day.
