The Dancing with the Stars 24 Quiz Results (and what they mean)

If you missed it, we are in full scale speculation mode on the Dancing with the Stars Season 24 Cast.  So for those of you that are just catching up, here's what we've done so far.

1. We picked our 5 favorite celebs we'd like to see join the DWTS 24 cast.

2. Our Facebook community exploded with fantastic suggestions of their own.

3. We decided to create a DWTS Quiz to determine who the favorites were.

So let's have some fun examining the results and see if there are any interesting conclusions.

The Bottom 5

3 Takeaways on the Bottom 5

1.  Tony Hawk?

Has nobody heard of this guy, or was this just a case of having some better options?  In a world where most athletes are considered over the hill by 35, Tony Hawk is still putting in work as a 48 year old.  Not bad considering that he's flying through the air, you know, like when he performed the first ever "900" at the X-Games?  Not cool enough?  How about when he did it as a 48 year old?

Verdict:  Maybe a celebrity skateboarder is too niche for the DWTS niche?

2. Too Edgy?

Kathy Griffin has a very particular brand of humor.  She can be a crass, slightly annoying, and a little offensive for some. Nevertheless, her uncanny ability to not take herself too seriously (see: My Life on the D List) would make her behind the scenes footage worthy of its own spin off series.  But Kathy's got some new Trump material, a big mansion, and her personal brand is trending upward.

Verdict:  She's more A-List now than she used to be, and maybe the fans would prefer the old Kathy.

3.  Please Put Him in the Mix

How could this be?  Hammer?  As in M.C. Hammer, the ultimate rap megastar from the 80's to early 90's.  As in the guy who put Oakland on the map for something other than pro sports.  How is it that he brings up the rear in this poll?  Maybe our fans felt that Hammer's dance moves were an unfair advantage, or maybe his incredible Twitter following?  Either way, this result was shocking to say the least.

Verdict:  We hope Hammer makes the show, and from backstage he turns to his pro partner and says, "We're gonna turn this motha out."

The Top 9:  Examining 7, 8, & 9

9.  Chuck Norris - Perhaps the public fears the lethal payback Chuck Norris could potentially deliver on an Elimination Show

8. Christopher Walken - Maybe that Fatboy Slim video gives him an unfair advantage?

7. Sarah Michelle Gellar - Maybe that Boy George Twitter fail kept Buffy from reaching the top 5?

The Top 6:  Examining 4, 5, & 6

6.  Kelly Ripa - The super-fit and funny talk show host had her share of support and would make an excellent addition to the DWTS cast if it worked out.

5.  Hilary Duff - While things have been quiet for the Lizzie Maguire star and music recording artist, it seems that our fans would love to see her back in front of the public.

4.  Dale Earnhardt Jr. - There's something about DWTS and race car drivers, and although we've come to find out through some Facebook conversations that Dale Jr.'s racing schedule wouldn't permit him to join Season 24, he still finished with a solid 50 votes.

The Top 3 Celebrities in Our Poll

The theme of the Top 3 is, without question, sit-coms.  Specifically, late 80's to early 90's.  Before the explosion of cable television in every home, the 300 extra channels, Netlix, Hulu, or your favorite live streaming option:  There was Who's the Boss (1984-92), Saved by the Bell (1989-92), and Full House (1987-95).  These actors played pivotal roles on their respective television shows, and the fact that their careers have continued three decades later (seems like yesterday), speaks to their abilities and continued audience appeal.

3.  Alyssa Milano

One of our original 5 Celebrities we picked that we really wanted to see on DWTS 24, Milano is as well rounded as she is talented.  She seems to check off all the boxes of what you'd want to see in a DWTS celebrity:  Beautiful, has widespread public appeal, and has plenty of things to promote by participating on the show.

2. Mark Paul Gosselaar

Our runner up never played second fiddle to A.C. Slater (aka Mario Lopez).  Yes, as his character Zach Morris on the high school sit-com Saved by the Bell, Gosselaar's character was rarely bested by his chief buddy/rival.  So why not, for old time's sake, let Mr. Gosselaar take his shot at the mirrorball trophy, like his fellow acting colleague, and DWTS Season 3 runner up Mario Lopez.

1. John Stamos

He was our ace in the hole celebrity pick for our 5 Celebrities on DWTS 24 article.  The dude oozes with Dancing with the Stars potential, and if he were to join the show, ABC could single-handedly control the viewership of the entire 35-55 female demographic.

The Original 5 Celebrities We Picked

RHONDA ROUSEY

Potential Benefit To Her

Why She Fits the Show

She was on fire, became a mega star, and after a few beat downs - it seems that her star has fallen... sort of like Twitter stock.    She still has some serious star power, is a tough competitor, and is primed for a celebrity career that goes beyond fight night.

MC HAMMER

Potential Benefit to Him

Why He Fits the Show

Hammer is active within the Oakland community, on social media, and the show could raise awareness and reach to his already broad appeal.   Um.... he's MC Hammer.

SCOTT VAN PELT

Potential Benefit to Him

 Why He Fits the Show

ESPN has invested a lot into Scott, or "SVP's" personal brand on the show.  This adds more content and audience appeal to this steadily rising ESPN star.  Disney owns ABC.  Disney owns ESPN.  It's a play for the home team.

ALYSSA MILANO

Potential Benefit to Her

Why She Fits the Show

In addition to being a Mom and with a steady stream of work, she is one of the most charitable donors in Hollywood.  DWTS could broaden the reach to deliver a bigger fund raising impact.   Milano is to male viewers what Mario Lopez was to the female demographic.  80's star, easy on the eyes, and can still deliver.

JOHN STAMOS

Potential Benefit to Him

Why He Fits the Show

He's got the presence and character for another solo project, and maybe DWTS is the avenue for a major network to take notice.   The guy is still a multi-talented stud.  He's one of the few celebrities that can still move the needle with just about every female demographic
