Dance Advice for Humans

What Your Arthur Murray Dance Teacher Did This Weekend

Written by Chris Lynam | Jul 14, 2015 4:49:00 PM

While many people were waiting in line to see the latest summer blockbuster, hitting the beach, or doing something else around town - your Arthur Murray dance teacher was working.

But not in the way you think.

Like many businesses, Arthur Murray holds seminars for their professionals to
  • Develop their skills
  • Get motivated
  • Connect with other Arthur Murray Professionals
Organized by District Director Daisey Lynam, nearly 100 Arthur Murray professionals from Folsom, Reno, Carmichael, San Jose, Los Gatos, Millbrae, Fremont, Hayward, Redwood City, Livermore, Walnut Creek, San Francisco, and Santa Rosa spent their weekend improving their craft.

With featured dance trainers, Victoria Regan and Tonia Kosovich, and business trainers Chris & Daisey Lynam, the weekend agenda was filled with new perspectives on all aspects of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio.

Plenty of Fun

Your typical work seminar may start with a trust-fall, and end with 48 hours of PowerPoint delight.  For Arthur Murray Professionals, we trust fall every day.  This weekend was filled with off the wall moments, laughter, and stretching everyone outside of their dancing comfort zones.

Favorite Camp Moment: Victoria Regan

"During the lunch break a Disney medley came on and the entire staff ALL broke into song, acted it out as if they were the Lion King, Beauty or the Beast & Pocahontas! The body movement, connections, self expression was beyond magnificent. That was where you could see the innate talent of each individual and as a group!"

Trickle Down Effect

Similar to other businesses, a weekend convention brings plenty of new ideas and energy for the weeks and months to follow.  While the Arthur Murray franchisees in the area worked on how to grow and develop their staff and student body, the Arthur Murray instructors worked on material that covered everything from footwork to frame, fundamentals to the fantastic.

It's Getting Hot In Here!

It was hot!  100 dancing bodies can, pretty much, disable the effects of the greatest A/C systems.  So, if sweat is an indicator of hard work, then the group this weekend was some of the hardest working people on Earth.  (Note: Avoid wearing a blue shirt when dancing in extreme heat)

"As much fun as our staff have learning at a dance camp, the people that benefit the most from this is our students."

- Chris Lynam

Behind The Scenes Exclusive

For people wanting to get even closer to the action of this dance camp weekend, there was a behind the scenes live feed via:  Periscope.

Periscope is a live video streaming application that syncs with Twitter (and is owned by Twitter).

We posted everything from student tips, to dance footage.  Our favorite moment, however, was in the link to the left.

Note:  Periscope's Live Feed expires after 24 hours, so if you miss the hilarious video, make sure to follow us on Twitter and Periscope.

The Result?

"We gave them tools to help them Decide and Succeed at being better Arthur Murray Professionals.  The result was that they embraced the training with absolute commitment and enthusiasm." - Featured Trainer: Tonia Kosovich

A goal is just future regret until you take action.  We hope this article inspired you to do just that.  Spend 45 minutes of your time and we know you'll discover something that will positively impact your life.
