Every social media channel seems to have its own specialty:

YouTube has cat videos, Pinterest has Recipes, and Instagram seems to be the Motivational Quote capital of the internet.  It's a perfect social media stopover to fuel up on success slogans before work, or your next dance performance.  So we thought we'd share our top 12 Instagram Posts to keep all of you ballroom dancers motivated.

7 Instagram Posts That Will Motivate any Ballroom Dancer

Inspirational Quote 1:

"Talent can make you lazy. Hard work can't."

The Dance Message

There may have been a time in your life when you believed that you didn't possess the talent to become a dancer.  What we fail to recognize is that most of the "talent" we see is the result of hard work.  As the quote shows, it's easy for talented people to get bored, lazy, and stop trying.

But that would never happen to a hard worker.

Bottom Line:  Talent is overrated, and usually mislabeled.  Keep working hard.

Inspirational Quote 2:

"Buying a tuxedo tells the world you're not interested in Renting Success."

The Dance Message

James Bond, and Sean Connery, makes everything so much cooler.  The truth is, this can apply to buying your first pair of dance shoes, purchasing a dance costume, or your Arthur Murray dance program.  Heck, it also works for a tuxedo.  The idea is to make a statement.  To stop taking a "Renter's approach" to things like dance shoes, costumes, dance programs, or tuxedos.

Bottom Line:  James Bond would never rent a tux, or "sort of try" dance lessons, and neither should you.

Inspirational Quote 3:

"They have no idea that their hate has been converted to Fuel."

The Dance Message

There are going to be people in your life that won't understand why you want to become a Social or Competitive Ballroom Dancer.  In fact, they may have strong, even negative, opinions about it.  Your road to dancing may have had some painful beginnings, but that can be used as the necessary fuel to power you through your first lesson... and beyond.

Bottom Line: You have a support system of dancers at Arthur Murray to help propel your dance goals.

Inspirational Quote 4:

"Your future self wants your present self to keep pushing further."

The Dance Message

Whether this is about your Extravaganza routine, or just your approach to your dance lessons - your future self wants you to push it.  10 years from now, will you sit back and wish that you would have danced less?  Gone to fewer dance events, or performed less in front of people?  Your future self is begging your present self to never lose hope, lose focus, or lose your resolve to improve.

Bottom Line: Your future self is begging your present self to never lose hope, lose focus, or lose your resolve to improve.

Inspirational Quote 5:

"A true mentor makes your goals, their goal."

The Dance Message

Let's talk about your teachers.  Sure, they are humans, and we like them that way, but they are also great mentors.  Think of what your thoughts were about your dance potential 5 minutes before your first Arthur Murray lesson, and where they are now.

Bottom Line: Your progress, your goals, and your plan are all part of their calibrated plan for you.

Inspirational Quote 6:

"How will this make me feel:  10 Minutes from now, 10 Months from now, 10 Years from now?"

The Dance Message

Maybe you're on the fence about attending an event, graduating to a new level, or adding the Bachata to your dance program.  We suggest looking at this post, and reading up on Suzy Welch's 10/10/10 Principle.  It helps to eliminate the dread we put ourselves through when it comes to decision making.

Bottom Line: 10 Months from now the dance you're unsure about could be your favorite.

Inspirational Quote 7:

"Dear High School Reunion Committee, Cue the music. It's payback time."

The Dance Message

We hope you have the same type of response to dance opportunities like this.  It's not often we get a chance to show people how Arthur Murray has helped to redefine your social life - Savor it.  Taken from one of our earliest-ever Festival t-shirts, we couldn't resist this update to our Instagram page.

Bottom Line:  RSVP to anything where you could use your dancing to make a statement.

Final Thought

Motivation is like fuel, and it's always good to have some in reserve.  There are going to be challenges in the learning process, but that's what locks in your improvement.  Sure, we call it the Curve of Learning, but it could easily be titled the Climb of Learning. The wonderful thing? It's improving your life.

You're walking taller, moving better, and everyone keeps telling you how happy you look.  Your worst dance day would be the highlight of any non-dancer's week.

But that doesn't mean we couldn't all use a little extra fuel.
