This year, the Downtown Livermore Sights and Sounds Parade had the theme "Home for the Holidays", but judging by the size of the crowd - it didn't seem like anyone stayed home.
Every year the parade features local businesses, schools, community organizations, and even the Livermore Rodeo as they strut their best float down First Street. This event isn't taken lightly, and the production value on the floats, and a visit from Santa, is why this is a can't miss event for the Livermore community.
This year, the Arthur Murray team raised the bar.
With a collection of faithful students, and some ingenuity by co-owner Daisey Lynam, the AM Livermore float was the best it has ever been.
The idea was to project a video on the large helium ball pictured below from last year.
The effect prompted plenty of positive feedback from the crowd, the staff, and students. Here's what it looked like:

Students like Nancy Huffman and Beverly Ang remember the early days of the AM Livermore team's float. With a flat bed truck, some music, and a few decorations - students and teachers in full costume used social danced as the truck drove down first street.
Social dancing is always wonderful to watch, provided that it's not in the frigid cold on the back of a moving vehicle.
A helium ball, now serving as a dance highlight reel movie screen, doesn't necessarily replace the dance element in Downtown Livermore parades to come. Managers Joey Sena and William Daily are already planning a dance formation to trail behind the big ball, now with the movie screen.
