Salsa Lessons, Tango Lessons, Samba Lessons, Oh My!

If you haven't heard already, learning to dance has a lot of wonderful side effects

Aside from the fact that these three dances immediately make you a man or woman of mystery, the Salsa, Tango, and Samba each bring their own measure of zest into even the most predictable daily routine.

Combining all three could very well detonate your quiet social calendar for good.

1. Salsa Lessons

Why is salsa a great dance to learn:  It's popular, which makes learning it your admission into countless latin dance clubs.

The byproducts from learning Salsa:  When you know the hip and cool dance, you are seen as a hip and cool person. Not to mention, the dance itself teaches confidence, rhythm, and with all of the opportunities to use it, plenty of improved social skills.

What usually stops people from starting:  Unfortunately, many people buy into some common misconceptions about the Salsa, one in particular is, "you have to be born with rhythm".  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Need proof?  That's why Arthur Murray offers a free private lesson so you can eliminate that negative thinking before making an investment.

2. Tango Lessons

Why Tango is a great dance to learn:  It's sexy, mysterious, and (don't tell anyone) it's easier to do than most people think.

The byproducts from learning the Tango:  This dance is oozing with confidence.  It can dramatically alter your spot on the social hierarchy, or just serve as a dance alter-ego.  Want an example?  Read about my first Tango Couple and how this dance totally changed them.

What usually stops people from starting:  The mystique.  As mentioned before, the common refrain when it comes to learning to Tango is that the dance looks difficult. Well, don't let the extreme facial expressions fool you - the basics can be covered within the first 10 minutes of your dance lesson.

3. Samba Lessons

Why Samba is a great dance to learn:  Take every upbeat latin dance, smash them all together, and set them to a pulsating rhythm, and you've got Samba. The most electric and exciting of all the latin dances.

The byproducts from learning the Samba:  Without question, Samba can put most workout programs to shame.  The physical fitness aspect of this dance is unprecedented.  Studies have shown that you can burn 300-500 calories with one Samba lesson.

What usually stops people from starting:  Videos of Carnivale. Honestly though, as physically demanding as this dance may be, your dance teacher won't be asking you to recreate anything you may have seen in Brazil.  The outfits alone could get someone arrested.

Final Thought

The great thing about Salsa Lessons, or any kind of lessons at Arthur Murray, is that you don't have to stick to just one, two, or three dances.  Every dance you learn has connections to others, kind of like your social life once you get moving on the dance floor.

Are you ready to give dancing a try?  Whether you're wanting to learn with someone special or just for yourself, you can start with a free private lesson to see why Arthur Murray has been the leader in ballroom dance instruction since 1912.
